The Message of Prophet Shuaib (A.S.)

Prophet Shuaib (A.S.) called his people towards Tawheed (monotheism) and justice. His message was simple yet powerful:

• Worship Allah alone.

“O my people! Give full measure and weight with justice and do not deprive people of their due, and do not commit evil in the land, spreading corruption.”

“O Shuaib! Does your prayer command that we leave what our fathers worship or stop doing what we please with our wealth?”

“O Shuaib! We do not understand much of what you say, and indeed we see you weak among us. If not for your family, we would have stoned you.”

“And O my people! Let not your opposition to me cause you to be struck by that which struck the people of Noah or Hud or Salih. And the people of Lot are not far from you.”
(Surah Hud 11:89)

But arrogance and greed blinded them. They refused to repent and even challenged Shuaib (A.S.) to bring Allah’s punishment if he was truthful.

“They said, ‘O Shuaib! Let us see the punishment you threaten us with, if you are indeed truthful!’”
(Surah Al-A’raf 7:88)

The Destruction of Madyan

At last, when their rebellion reached its peak, Allah’s decree came. A mighty earthquake struck their land, shaking everything. A loud blast followed, and in moments, their once-prosperous city was turned to ruins.

“So the earthquake seized them, and they lay lifeless in their homes.”
(Surah Al-A’raf 7:91)

“Those who denied Shuaib were as if they had never lived there. Those who denied Shuaib-it was they who were the losers.”

Allah saved Shuaib (A.S.) and the believers who followed him by His mercy.
